#BreaktheBias

#BreaktheBias - The Willoughby Book Club

This year’s International Women’s Day and Women's History Month, the theme is #BreaktheBias. The campaign wants to help promote a world where difference and inclusion are celebrated and stereotypes, bias and discrimination are relegated to the history books!

Every one of us can help achieve this, no matter how small the gesture. Our reading, especially, can help make a difference. Which authors on your bookshelves deserves to be spotlighted?

Perhaps you want to diversify your reading to include lesser known women authors, or you want to read something in translation or read more women of colour. Maybe you normally read books by male authors and want to change it up a little bit.

Some genres have historically been dominated by male voices like Crime, Fantasy and Science Fiction

So why not break the bias and try pick up one of these amazing books by some incredible women?

Whatever you chose to do, all of these actions can greatly help to support women writers.

Tell us your favourite female authors, pass on a well-thumbed book to a friend or colleague, read about the country or context your book is based in. And however you may celebrate International Women’s Day and Women's History Month, send us pics of you and your books!
