What is the Willoughby Book Club?
The Willoughby Book Club is a personalised book subscription gift service based in the UK. We offer a range of 'book a month' packages and other gifts for book lovers. For more information visit our About us page.


Who are we?

Adam and Chloe Pollard set up the Willoughby Book Club in 2012 and run the club from their home in the village of Willoughby Waterleys, in South Leicestershire.


Why did you set up The Willoughby Book Club?

We set up the Willoughby Book Club in order to share our love for great literature and beautifully bound books. We also think there's no feeling like having a new book delivered to your door each month, especially when it's been hand-picked just for you.

How does The Willoughby Book Club work?

It's easy. Simply choose the gift package that you'd like to buy, answer a few questions about the person that you're buying for and we'll send them a handpicked book every month! For more information, see our How does it work? page.

What type of books can I give/receive?

We offer a number of book subscription packages for a range of ages and interests - from books for babies, toddlers and first time readers, to packages for fiction lovers, cookery buffs and couples. All of our packages are available in 3, 6 and 12 month memberships and are the ideal gifts for readers! Can I book a subscription if it isn't a gift?

Of course! Our packages are available to everyone - so whether you're buying as a literary gift or treating yourself, you'll get a personalised, hand-picked book delivered to your door every month.

Can I send a message to the person I'm buying for?

Yes. All of our gift packages come with a FREE personalised message as part of your first book delivery.


How will they know I've bought them a gift?

For a small additional charge we'll send a gift card to your recipient on a date of your choice. This will tell them what their gift is, who bought it for them and when they can expect to receive their first book. So although they won't receive their first book straight away, they'll know about your generous a gift. If you'd prefer, we can send this gift card to your address so that you're able to give it to the recipient in person.

I didn't order a gift card. Is it too late to send one?
Of course not. You can order a gift card to be sent to you or your gift recipient by

Can I cancel my order?

We hope that none of our customers decide to leave us. But if you do, you can contact us at hello@thewilloughbybookclub.co.uk and we'll arrange for a refund of the remaining months of your membership.

Can I choose the books myself?

No. We'll personally hand-pick a new book every month, based on the type of gift package you purchased and all of the useful information you've given us about your recipient's literary preferences.

Will my books be hardback or paperback?

We'll aim to provide a mix of hardback and paperback books, but ultimately our aim is to source books that we know your gift recipient will love reading.

Do I get to keep the books?
Of course - every book that we send is yours to enjoy again and again!

Are you able to send foreign language books?
No. All of the books we send have been written in (or translated into) English.


If
 I already have the book you've sent me, can I return it?
Yes. Just drop us an email and we'll arrange for a replacement book to be sent out to you ASAP. You can also provide us with some more information about your reading history, so that we don't sent you another book that you already have!



I'd like to change the type of books I receive, is that ok?
We use the information you provide as part of the ordering process to determine which books we hand-pick for inclusion in your package. If you'd like to provide us with some additional information after your order has been placed, just drop us an email - it all helps us to select the best possible books!


Can I pay monthly?

No. Your initial payment will cover the complete cost of your gift in it's entirety - from the delivery of your first book, through to the last.

I'm unsure about paying online. Is there an alternative?

We appreciate that not everybody likes to spend money online. So if you'd like to purchase a book subscription package and pay by an alternative method, get in touch with us and we'll see what we can do.

Do your prices include VAT?
Yes. Our prices are inclusive of any VAT (where it's applicable) and postage.


Is there an additional charge for postage?

Our prices include FREE delivery to the UK. For information on international delivery costs, please see our product pages. 

Do you deliver abroad?

Yes. Prices for international delivery can be found on our product pages. All international items are sent by priority delivery, which takes between 3-7 days to arrive.

When will you send my books?
We always dispatch our books on the 1st of the month. If you've placed your order before the 27th, your first book will be sent on the 1st of the next month. If you placed your order on or after the 27th, we'll send out your first book a month later. If you'd like us to wait until a future month, just drop us an email at hello@thewilloughbybookclub.co.uk.

If you've asked us to send your recipient a gift card, we'll always make sure that their first book isn't sent until after they've received it.

We use the time between your order being received and your first book being sent out, to hand-select and personalise your book package based on the information that you've give
n us.

Can I spread my deliveries out?
Yes! If you'd prefer us to send you a book every other month, or even every quarter, just drop us an email and we'll do the rest.

Can I choose which month my book club starts?
If you don't want your book club deliveries to start immediately, just drop us an email at
hello@thewilloughbybookclub.co.uk and let us know which month you'd like them to start. All of our books are sent out on 1st of each month.

How will my books be sent?

We send our books by 48hr post, which means that your recipient will normally receive them around 3rd or 4th of each month.

Are your parcels 'letter box friendly'?
Yes! The vast majority of our fiction parcels will fit through all standard sized letterboxes. However, our larger Baby, Toddler & Non-fiction books (as well as some fiction titles) will require bigger boxes that may not fit. If you'd prefer us to send your books to an alternative address to avoid missing a delivery, just drop us an email at

Can I ask you to deliver to an alternative address?

Yes. As part of our checkout process, you'll be given the opportunity to choose which address you'd like your books to be sent to. If for any reason this changes, just email us at hello@thewilloughbybookclub.co.uk and we'll arrange for all future books to be sent to an alternative address. We do ask for a month's notice of any address change wherever possible.

I've ordered a gift card. Can you send it to my address instead?
Of course. If you've changed your mind sabout where to have your gift card delivered, just drop us an email at

What if I don't receive my books?
If you haven't received your books by the 10th day of the month, contact us and we'll send out a replacement ASAP.
