Reading Romance, and some Valentine's Day reading suggestions

Reading Romance, and some Valentine's Day reading suggestions - The Willoughby Book Club

Valentine's Day is upon us once again, which inevitably means the Willoughby team have been discussing the romance books we've read or considered recently.

Our first loves will always be books, and the characters brought to life through the magic of words. Our interests and reading preferences, when it comes to the romance genre, are rather different. Where one of us might prefer general fiction with love as a theme secondary to friendships or familial relationships, another would prefer romance front and central to the plot. Romantic fantasy or 'romantasy' is a particular favourite genre for one of the Willoughby team in particular.

Regardless of your stance on romance in books, it is very difficult to pick up a book and not find at least one romantic relationship between its covers. Love is, literally, all around.

We know many Willoughby subscribers have a penchant for romantic storylines and happy endings. It is a broad church of authors, ideas, and tropes and can be the perfect form of escapism for readers, providing warmth and comfort- particularly during the cold, Winter months! The recurring themes are soothing and offer readers surety and a guaranteed happy ending, in contrast with the less shiny, more quotidian, aspects of our normal lives

With this is mind, we thought we'd let you in on our current favourites. They're are varied as we are, so have a read and let us know which titles you'd add to the list!
