Inspired by Books, a Lockdown Competition: Update

Thank you all so much for your gorgeous, inspired entries to the Willoughby Book Club’s ‘Inspired by Books’ competition.

We wanted to congratulate our winners, and show you just a few of the entries that we received throughout the month.

Aishah, your beautifully colourful entry is a winner for us. You encapsulate the magic of discovering a new book!

Rosemarie, we loved the historical figures bursting out of this book. Congratulations on winning!

Madeleine, your entry made us all want to read ‘The Meadow of Magic’. I hope you will be a published author one day, but until then you’re a Willoughby winner!

We loved this mother and daughter entry from Aoife and her mum Vicky. Aoife is learning about the magic of space, and currently enjoying reading Astromouse.  Thanks for sharing this gorgeous picture with us!

It was so hard for us to choose winners! We really struggled to choose our favourites from such a great selection of entries.

Here are just a few more of the many we received, we loved them all but there’s simply not space to display every single one.

This beautiful watercolour from Julia was inspired by The Shell Seekers, by Rosamund Pilcher. Exquisite!

We loved this chic, Willoughby coloured entry from Mishaim. Books and coffee, what a great combination.

Just look at this delightful creation from Sharon (@daisies.are.our.silver).  What a snuggly delight. Sharon, please make a storybook of this character!

Matilda, your rainbow hugs made us smile. We’re sending hugs your way too!

Lilli, this is fabulous! We just loved the movement and energy of your entry.

Joshua, we adored your Mr Tickle! You made us all smile.

We were so impressed by this labour of love from Jessica: a hand stitched letter of acceptance to Hogwarts, made by Jessica to celebrate her son’s first day at school this September.

Catherine’s entry was inspired by her love of Memoirs of a Geisha. We loved the triptych format.

Freya’s love of storybooks and illustration really shines through in this entry. We’re eagerly awaiting the day this is published, Freya!

Samuel’s entry was inspired by Fantastic Mr Fox, and we think he has really captured the spirit of the book in this picture. I love that each cider flagon is carefully labelled!

Stuart’s entry, ‘Don Quioxote de la Mancha’ was inspired by a trip to Spain. It’s almost reminiscent of iconography, and the burnt sienna base grounds the image.

We loved this calm tranquil scene from Sinuo. She has rediscovered her love of reading during the lockdown. What a lovely book nook she has depicted here.

This image from Francesca beautifully captures our sentiments about reading, too!

Thank you all once again for taking the time to enter. Look out for one of the winning postcards in your next Willoughby delivery!
